New Moon Eclipse in Libra

New Moon - Annular Solar Eclipse - Sun and Moon conjunct Mercury and Lilith in Libra

The new moon is conjunct the South Node, Mercury, and Lilith in Libra and is the last eclipse before the nodes move out of the Aries-Libra axis. This is a culmination of the beginnings that have been taking place through our intimate relationships and partnerships. Our karmic energy has been cycling back to us through the people that are mirrors in our life. The ones that reflect our triumphs and our failures, enabling a clearer picture of ourselves to be revealed as the scales balance. 

A connection between the Sun and the Moon is an opportunity for us to psychologically reset. To release everything that has built up to bring us to this moment and start again. The previous cycle focused on restructuring our daily routine, and now we focus on how to share that time with persons that we value. This is a cardinal cycle, emphasizing what is beginning as we set out to make changes to the world. As an air sign, Libra is a sign of expression and communication. The focus here is on expressing the beauty of life and discovering the pleasure in it. As the days grow shorter we look to those we share our nights with for companionship and satisfaction. 

Mercury and Lilith are closely conjunct the new moon and lending their influence to the beginning of this cycle. Mercury is lending insight, understanding, and quick wit while Lilith appeals to our hidden desires. Shaded in the darkest of nights we have the opportunity to look into our souls and discover what drives us to connection and what we need from it. The aspects of our emotional being that we hide for fear of rejection, but search for to find fulfillment. Sometimes we hide out of fear of rejection, and that energy is abundant right now. By embracing and accepting these aspects of ourselves we can fully realize ourselves. 

Under the North Nodes influence we experience the fulfillment of our efforts, but the cycle that culminates through the eclipse will play out over the next six months. There is no immediate gratification when the nodes are involved. The new moon is seeding a cycle but the North Node is a releasing point, emphasizing endings. Of course the end of every cycle also begins the next one so while we are receiving the karmic fulfillment of our previous efforts this is still an opportunity to seed a new cycle, one infused with the wisdom of what we have learned and the desire to fulfill what we have denied ourselves out of fear of judgment.

• Mercury in Libra square Ceres in Capricorn

Ceres squares the new moon and makes a direct connection with Mercury, lending the awareness of this influence. Ceres carries the energy of the mother and the cycle of nurturing, but it can also drain us. The mother gives her energy to all but rarely has the opportunity to truly care for herself. What we nurture is like a garden igniting the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Square Mercury and the new moon the mother is in tension with what is born this cycle, but squares also instigate and activate. As an asteroid this is related to our communities. Venus in Scorpio is a harmonious release that calls us to pursue what we enjoy, even that means hiding in the darkness.
