Branwen oil

Branwen is a Goddess of the Welsh Mabinogion mythologies. She manifests a life cycle of youthful hope, marital and motherhood fulfillment, and then, wartime tragedy which is difficult to hold in the limited heart of the Western worldview but is understood as destiny of purpose in the Celtic heart. 

Although to the Westerner, this is a story with a harsh ending, to the Celtic way of thinking, it is all part of the cycles of life, love and loss through which all of us must bear carriage. Branwen is the beauty and Spirit that carries us though. May her soft and strong shoulders help us weather the tides and undertows that life presents us.

As complex as her story is, her dedicatory fragrance is potioned in three cycles. New Moon for her childhood full of potential, if not of her own direction. Full Moon for her marriage and fruitful motherhood. Dark Moon for her tragedy and mourning. These are not easy to balance in a fragrance, but we hope you will be able to discern each phase in this potion.

The Muse for our Branwen oil is Aidan, the Pumpkin King, who has been a customer and inspiration for years. Cedar was daunted by the story of Branwen, but Aidan encouraged her to face the fateful and hopeful story of Branwen, who holds all of our stories in her own heart.
